“Oh Chris you are too strong for A woman”, he said to me . “ Why can’t you be tender like Ama, gentle like Emily, and sweet like Dorcas?”
Wait Boy! I don’t think you understand what it is to be a woman, I have grown to be a Woman and not a good girl.
Growing up, most girl childs were programmed to do all they could to end up being “GOOD GIRLS” so as to end up being a Wife. As if it’s the highest trophy of life. Luckily for me, I had parents that focused more on allowing me be the best of me than the best for anyone else! Truthfully I knew nothing about feminism or Equality but deep down I knew I wanted to try to do anything my brother did, so hearing the words, “Don’t you know you are a woman?” always sounds like stale, dead music to me.
Forced by life to grow up in a society where men always wanted to touch me, strangers wanting to grope me and people call you names for protecting your heart and interest, I had no choice than to be strong for me and those around me. I also learned to fight for my rights and the rights of others; be you a male or female.
My journey to womanity have thought me that I can be principled, powerful, achieve my goals at the same time be kind and bold enough to choose the lover I want in my life as I talk about my sexual needs without feeling like an agent of Jezebel .(lol, You know the good girl can’t do that right?)
