Over the weekend, I visited my birth country Togo for a night, accompanied by my fashion blogger friend Nuel Bans. It hadn’t changed much over the years, don’t know if that should be defined as progression or regression.
The next day we decided to visit the local market wearing black on black. As Africans wearing black on black always triggers so many questions like; Are you mourning? Why are you in Black? Who died? Why All Black? All because funeral attires are always black. Well, in this case, nobody died, I’m not mourning anyone, not even my exes, I’m perfectly in a happy mood just because I love Black.
In the market apart from the random stare of a hot girl and fashionisto in town, cars honking at me, a crazy white woman yelled at me from the other side of the road, “Why are you in black on black?” Only if she could hear my thoughts,” I just love Black, lady mind your business!!! “.
Why do I Wear Black?
*Black is a powerful color and always seen as classy or sophistication, e.g: Black tie events or say the must have dress for every lady, the little black dress.
*Some might call it depressing, but I love the mystery it creates while adding a dose of sexiness when the right pieces are put together; Glam not Drab.
*Although am already an assertive lady, wearing black is quite intimidating in a gathering. All people see is confidence.
*Black is flattering for every body type, you don’t have to worry about that fat prone area. Black covers it up. You get to look slimmer.
*You can accessorize with any color and it will still look perfect.
*Black can never be replaced. Black will always be the new Black.
So on that note I guess it’s time for you to add some black to your closet . Share what you don’t like or like about wearing black.
