Working out has always been a part of my lifestyle, especially for the fact I used to play professional basketball, but these days due to the pressures of work and life it’s been a hassle trying to keep up with that as usual.
Although the pressures mount up, the truth is I don’t think I will ever be happy with myself if I stopped working out. Apart from controlling your weight, there are other benefits derived from exercising such as, body fighting diseases, boost of energy and improvement of your mood . I’m sure some of you feel the same way to, even though you might not be such a sporty person, but because of the importance of exercising you always telling yourself I will work out but never do. On this post i will be sharing some ways I motivate myself to either hit the gym or just exercise at home. Please don’t laugh because some will be funny to you but it works for me. Here we go.
1. Think About The Body Of Your Favorite Star.
Wait!! Who doesn’t want the body on Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Ciara or Rihanna ? Anytime laziness gets into my way, I always envision Bey in my head and tell myself “That body didn’t come on by lazying about but by hitting those workout reps”. Get up and do it!
2. Do It For The Gram!!! Share Your Sweaty Post Workout Pictures.
Although I’m not a big fan of taking pictures or videos while working out because I think it’s distracting, the best pictures of accomplishments are usually when you are done working out. The picture serves as an encouragement to do more and beat your last workout. Work out, Sweat out, take a picture and send it to the gram.
3.Challenge Yourself To Do More
The best results are only seen when you do more; I really hate jogging but when I started, my best time to jog nonstop was 5 minutes, then walk the repeat but today I try 15 -20 minutes non stop. There’s really no harm in challenging your body to do more; be it weights, cardio or running. Start today and Thank me tomorrow.
4. Buy Cool Workout Outfits and Lay Them Out
Buying new workout gears could be a very good source of motivation; be it a sports bra or sneakers, trendy gym clothes might give you the push you need to hit the road. So my dear go out there and buy some new gym outfit.
5.Get A Workout Buddy
Working out alone could be a bit boring and sloppy. Why don’t you get a partner, someone with the same goal as you, someone who will push you to do more and vice versa. Yes, there could be a little bit of chit-chat here and there but always remember the goal and that is working out.
6. Sleep in Your Workout Cloths
Not an early morning person, just sleep in your workout clothes. You will definitely be forced to do some reps of situps or some rounds of skipping or even hit the street for a walk or run. Try it and thank me later.
7. Look At Yourself In The Mirror
Regular check on yourself through the mirror is one motivation. When you get to see all the added flesh on the wrong places, that’s when the moment of truth sets in; refusing to work towards the warnings you know can cost you a great deal later on.
8. Dare to Wear That Sexy Dress That Doesn’t Fit
Remember that expensive dress you bought 2 years ago and have refused to give out but still doesn’t fit you, all because it’s tighter now. Try challenging yourself to fit into that dress, you will be surprised the miracles of one month of workout. I tried this once and today I can wear that dress without stress.
9. Get a Mad Playlist, The One That Makes You Dance
Good music makes a girl wanna dance, but a good workout playlist can make you wanna run. Working out with music can really contribute positively to your workout routine. For someone like me who is not much or a runner, I sometimes psyche myself to run along with 3 songs that excite me, before I realize 9 minutes of running is completed all by listening to my favourite tracks.
